Playing on nostalgia
Over the years, you've been unfortunate enough to read my cynical babbling about a myriad of topics. So let's start the conversation about something like predictions and how true or false they've become. They do it all the time on TWiT (or so I hear, I haven't listened to it since Merlin went on internetional hiatus). Starting from the start.
Hiyo! Hak.5 on diggnation?
Link: http://jayc.vox.com/library/post/hiyo-hak5-on-diggnation.html
Prediction: Hak5 + Diggnation = Uber tea... no wait, what?
Diggnation is still running strong at just over seven million episodes. Where is Hak5? A crumbling community infested with script kiddies asking how to "hack the skool" (Haha, no, really) and an irregular release schedule has led to this podcast being all but failed. High on production quality, low on content quality. Hak5 + Diggnation would roughly equal cat piss. Outcome: False
Google buys YouTube... sigh
Link: http://jayc.vox.com/library/post/google-buys-youtube-sigh.html
Prediction: Google will do something amazing to capitalize on YouTube's success.
Google is widely known as a very innovative company. YouTube gave voice to hordes of idiotic, angsty teenagers, which turns out, was a medium in demand. Oh, and it gave a place for independent film-makers to host their idea balls. Therefore this was a match made in heaven.
Too bad Google hasn't done shit with YouTube. Other than frequent UI changes, the biggest new feature introduced since the Google buyout was the ability to see which users are watching the video at the same time as you, and the ability to bury idiot spammers. Genius!
Meanwhile Vimeo is still making leaps and bounds, kicking ass. Vimeo released HD content earlier this year, and the ability for users to upload HD videos and watch them in beautifully high resolution. It's a shame both Zach Klein and Jakob Lodwick (the founders of Vimeo who were both so passionate about the medium of internet video) left the company earlier this year. Outcome: False
The internet epidemic

Prediction: I used to be a much better writer than I am now.
I re-read "The internet epidemic" and found myself laughing out loud. That says something about my self-indulgent frame of mind, perhaps, but I haven't written anything lately that I really enjoyed reading, just a lot of depressing self-reflection, and I'm guessing you feel the same.
I ripped in Mikey a bit in that post. He actually seems like a pretty nice guy. Not meant for the camera though.
Outcome: True
I'm the most genius person in the world

Prediction: I'm the most genius person in the world
Outcome: True
Technology: Help or Hindrance
Link: http://jayc.vox.com/library/post/technology-help-or-hindrance.html
Prediction: Technology is ushering in an era of laziness and complacency
I frequently use this post as an example that I'm some kind of being of supernatural intelligence because it portrays, what I feel, to be the smartest opinion I've ever put to paper (pixels?).
The argument in a nutshell is that technology is making life too convenient, so we never expect to have to put in hard work to accomplish something. As unemployment rates rise, more people die from exhaustion after playing WoW days in a row, and I continue to feel like the dishwasher should be packing itself, the Outcome is slowly becoming True.
Very exciting time

Prediction: I will launch a video podcast
Hahaha, ludicrous.
Outcome: False... ;-)
Somebody set digg up the bomb
Link: http://jayc.vox.com/library/post/somebody-set-digg-up-the-bomb.html
Prediction: Public outcry will not stop companies from conforming to DRM as a standard practise
I couldn't have been more right. Not only has this not stopped DRM, DRM has become more prevalent since then. Probably not as a cause of the fiasco on Digg, but nevertheless. Ironically, all the movie studios are decreeing their swimfannian love for Blu-Ray (Betamax of the new generation) so nobody who is serious gives a shit about HD-DVD anymore. Except the people that paid $200 USD to get an HD-DVD player for their Xbox 360. Hahaha. Outcome: True
Party night

Prediction: I drink responsibly at an 18th
Outcome: False
Pownce - Innovation or mashup?
Link: http://jayc.vox.com/library/post/pownce---innovation-or-mashup.html
Prediction: Despite criticism of Pownce being an old technology in a new dress CulverBurkaRoseShawn will make it successful.
I wrote this before I'd actually used Pownce, and from initial speculation from Digg comments (usually the most credible of sources, I assure you). Fortunately, Pownce has been a great success. While I'm not sure what the total revenue from Pownce Pro sign up is, I do know that Pownce has a user base of hundreds of thousands, and just had its official launch. Congrats Megatechtronium.
Outcome: True
Terrible dream
Link: http://jayc.vox.com/library/post/terrible-dream.html
Prediction: Nick Douglas will cease to exist
Sometimes, my dreams come true. One time when I was in Primary School, I dreamed my teacher walked down the stairs while we were gluing stuff into our scrapbooks and said "Since you're all working so quietly, you can all have a Freddo". A 'Freddo' for those unfortunate enough to have experienced it, is a chocolate frog. Lo and behold, this happened days later.
Praise to the mayonnaise that this one didn't come true. Do you know what the world would be like without Nick Douglas? Fucking bleak.
Outcome: False
Wow, I didn't intend that to be a perfect 10, but how about that.
